Don’t look like y
our typical wine drinker? You would be correct. I am a beer drinker. The more I started paying attention to the taste of beer I discovered I could pin point different flavors. I could identify different spices by the smell. My beer taste refined and I had become a bit of a beer snob. The first real glass of wine I had was in February of 2006 in the living room of my little apartment in Murrells Inlet. Some time elapsed and a year or so later I was handed a glass of French Bordeaux in Epcot Center and I was introduced to bold red wine and have been hooked ever scene. I took all the fun I was having with beer and applied it to wine and found a whole new spectrum of flavor and aroma. Then I found different varieties from all over the world and all of them had there own unique characteristics. O so much fun. The bad news is, I’m on a budget. I’m a public servant, and with that comes a job with mediocre pay but full of “personal enrichment”. So I have to find wines that I can afford and are not going to break the bank. Now my taste is fast exceeding my budget, but I never shy away from even the cheapest of wines. I have found some extraordinary wines for $3, $5, and $7. Then watch them climb to $9 then $12 and then just keep on going. When you find a good wine grab it, buy a few cases because good cheap wine wont stay cheap forever. What I want to do is share my wine experiences with everyone. I can help you find that $5 grocery store wine that will stand right next to the pros at $20 a bottle. When looking for something special, I will post my favorite higher dollar wines for that special occasion. My only word of warning is I love dry bold red, I’m not super fluent in whites but I’m trying very hard to get my pallet around them. If you find something you love, share it with me. You find something you hate, Share it with me as well. Let’s have fun, and drink some wine.
